MS Supply Chain Management FAQ

General - MS SCM FAQ

Yes. International study trips help students to understand the operations and management of key issues related to supply chain at a global level.

Yes, our MS SCM curriculum has several online courses in which we offer them mostly in Fall or Spring semesters. This provides a flexibility and choice for students to take a course either in a traditional class format or take it online via Internet.

Waivers of program requirements may be granted in recognition of previous course work completed with grade “B”; or better within the past six years in a specific business program area. Waivers are approved by the program director through a process that allows a student to skip a core course and take the next higher level course in the same academic area with no reduction in the overall program hour requirements.

Transfer of credits may be granted for equivalent graduate course work taken at other universities with a grade of “B”; or better within the past six years. Up to 9 semester credit hours of course work from other universities may be waived from or transferred to the MS SCM program.

There are currently six student organizations housed within the supply chain management program. They are the Supply Chain Leadership Council, APICS UTD Student Chapter, ISM UTD Student Chapter, UT Dallas – INFORMS, Institute of Healthcare Improvement Open School: Dallas Chapter, and the Student Association of Lean and Six Sigma. Many of these student organizations are affiliated with professional SCM organizations, and many students involved get a chance to meet and network with experienced industry officials along with understanding the practical aspects of supply chain.

Students officially admitted to our graduate program must obtain prior approval before taking any courses at another university. The resultant transfer hours may be denied if prior approval is not obtained.

The guaranteed tuition plan is a plan that locks tuition rates in for four consecutive years and protects the student against increases during those four years. This plan is designed to aid students and families in the budget and planning of college expenses.

All new incoming students will be automatically placed into the variable tuition rate plan, but will have the option to lock in their tuition rates for four consecutive years with the guaranteed tuition plan.
