For Alumni - Mentoring FAQ

No, UT Dallas is a global campus and alumni live around the world. You may mentor by connecting with your student via phone, email, Skype or FaceTime and be an incredible alumni mentor. If you are selected as a mentor and have difficulties with serving in your role because of distance, time zones, etc., please contact jsomalumni@utdallas.edu.

No, students will ask you to participate in their Alumni Interview Program.

  1. Starting in September, Jindal School students will review alumni profiles and send a message to request your participation.
  2. You will review request(s). Please confirm with student(s) within 48 hours of the initial request. You may decline a request for whatever reason you have.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed your student(s) mentees, update your profile by unchecking “Willing to be a mentor.” This indicates to other students you are no longer available as a mentor.
  1. Register: Go to www.jindalconnect.com – You can register from your computer or from the JindalConnect app. You can download the JindalConnect app for free from the iTunes store or the Android Market.
  2. Sign in: The easiest way is to sign in with your Linked In account. Customize your profile in less than 2 minutes.
    • Include professional, academic and volunteer experience.
    • Under the “Willing to help” section, check “Willing to be a mentor.” You can un-check sub-items that don’t apply (such as Guest Lecture or Internships).
    • Under the “Summary” section, answer the following: “Why do you want to mentor a student? What do you hope to offer as a mentor?”
    • Make sure to click “Update” for each section.
  3. Await student request(s) starting in September: The student asks you. Check the email used on your JindalConnect profile to make sure you see requests you receive to take part in the Alumni Interview Program.

Once you register for the Jindal School mentor program through JindalConnect, you are part of the mentoring community. Beginning in September, Jindal School undergraduates who are part of the Alumni Interview Program will be required in their business communications class to register on www.JindalConnect.com and review mentor profiles to find a mentor who fits their interests and career goals. Once a student finds the ideal mentor, the student will click on the profile and send a message to request mentorship. From there, the alumnus will review mentorship request(s) and approve student(s) accordingly.

This is up to you and your mentee. The intention is that after the initial Alumni Interview is complete, the relation will continue through the end of the academic year.

UT Dallas offers two different tuition plans. The variable tuition rate plan is based on a traditional plan that only locks tuition rates in for one academic year at a time. The rates on the variable tuition plan are subject to change each academic year.

The guaranteed tuition plan is a plan that locks tuition rates in for four consecutive years and protects the student against increases during those four years. This plan is designed to aid students and families in the budget and planning of college expenses.

All new incoming students will be automatically placed into the variable tuition rate plan, but will have the option to lock in their tuition rates for four consecutive years with the guaranteed tuition plan.

To make your tuition plan choice, please follow these instructions on this page https://www.utdallas.edu/finance/bursar/tuition/
