Mehmet Ayvaci, PhD

Bio:
Dr. Mehmet Ayvaci is Associate Professor of Information Systems and Coordinator of the Healthcare Management Interdisciplinary Area. His research focuses on AI, algorithmic decision-making, and health IT.
He’s won multiple awards and serves on editorial boards for leading journals. He holds degrees from Texas A&M, Stanford, and University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Paul B. Convery, M.D., M.M.M.
Clinical Professor, Healthcare Leadership & Management

Bio:
Dr. Convery has 20+ years of physician leadership experience. He has served as CMO for Baylor Health and SSM Health and led several hospitals.
He holds an MD from the University of Illinois and an MMM from Tulane, and is a fellow of both ACP and ACPE.

Daniel Karnuta

Bio:
Karnuta is a former CFO of Conifer Health and senior executive at Perot Systems. He began his career at Price Waterhouse and taught at GMU, AU, and now UTD.
He has 30+ years of global finance experience in healthcare and IT services.

John F. McCracken, PhD

Bio:
Dr. McCracken is the founder of the Alliance for Physician Leadership and has served as professor, investment banker, and turnaround expert. He teaches and consults nationwide.
He holds degrees from SMU, the LSE, and Wharton, and has a chair endowed in his name at UTD.

Donald Taylor, MHA

Bio:
Don Taylor directs the APL EMBA. A retired Air Force colonel, he has led hospitals, trauma centers, and integration efforts at UT Southwestern. He’s also a published author and speaker.
He holds degrees from UT Arlington and Penn State, and lives in Southlake, TX.

Keith Thurgood, PhD

Bio:
Dr. Thurgood leads the MS in Healthcare Leadership and has held C-level roles at MedAssets, Sam’s Club, The Exchange, and in the U.S. Army (Major General, retired).
