Dr. Habte Woldu, director of the Naveen Jindal School of Management BS in Global Business and MS in International Management Studies programs, was honored in November as Education Abroad Mentor. This is the first year this award has been presented by Education Abroad (formerly the Office of International Education). Woldu was selected based on student nominations. Presenting the award to Woldu at the Study Abroad Returnee Appreciation Breakfast was Lisabeth Lassiter, director of Education Abroad.
Woldu, who is fluent in five languages, has been at UT Dallas since 1994 and has encouraged students for decades to study and travel internationally. He has led study trips to 19 nations on five continents over the past two decades. Destinations have included South Africa, Zimbabwe, Turkey, Poland, Russia, Uruguay, India, Hong Kong and Mexico.
“Traveling broadens students’ understanding of how business operates globally and prepares them to be effective managers and leaders in diverse business environments,” he says.
