What is ITS?

Information Technology and Systems focuses on how information technology can be used to support and enhance business processes and create value for organizations. Though technology is an important aspect of an information systems program, it is not just a technical degree program (such as the computer science program). It is also a business degree program.

Why are ITS programs primarily found in the business school?

Why are ITS programs primarily found in the business school?

Technology professionals work with technology and must have sound technical knowledge of computers, communications and software. However, because they operate within organizations and with organizational systems, they must also understand such functions within organizations as accounting, administration, finance, marketing, operations, human resources and more. ITS is the bridge between business and computer science.

There are two minor programs offered in JSOM that relate to Information Systems. The Business Intelligence and Analytics and the Information Technology and Systems minor. You can get more information on pre-requisites and course requirements in Minors section of the Undergraduate Catalog.
