Can a résumé be more than one page?
The JSOM standard is one page. Remember, a resume is a summary of your experience to prompt the interest of potential employers to give you an interview. For MBAs with extensive professional experience related to the job being sought, an additional page may be warranted.
Should I include high school or other school’s activities on my résumé?
College résumés drop the high school information. It is assumed that your professional experience begins at college.
Should I include jobs that I have had that don’t relate to the job I’m seeking?
Your résumé should demonstrate not only your direct experience but also include transferable skills that you gained from working or volunteering. The more directly you can link your job skills to the job for which you are applying, the stronger your application will be.
I don’t have any experience; how do I fix that on my résumé?
As a student, part of your experience may be gained from student activities/clubs, academic projects and volunteer efforts. Join organizations and volunteer to begin to build experiences that can demonstrate communication skills, teamwork, leadership and project management.
