Morganne Darling

Meet Morganne Darling, our star blog contributor and freshman marketing student here at the Jindal School. If you do not know Morganne, she’s a member of our JSOM Social Team and has been writing blogs since last semester; she wrote this particular blog pre-COVID-19, and we cannot wait to go back to normalcy and once again enjoy our beautiful campus. Therefore, we hope in sharing her blog, we remind you of the incredible offerings JSOM and UT Dallas has to give.

Read about Morganne’s experience as she connects us to our campus – one in which we will be able to see and fully enjoy again soon.

Let’s hear it from Morganne:

Q: Who are you and what do you do?

A: My name is Morganne Darling and I am a JSOM freshman studying marketing. I am a part of the women’s soccer team on campus (go Comets!) and a blogger for the JSOM Social Team. During my free time, I enjoy planning trips to different places around the world that I hope I will be able to go on someday.

Q: Why did you join the social media team?

A: My mom is a blogger and I’ve always wanted to try blogging after seeing her success with all of her websites. So when I saw the flyer online that they were looking for bloggers for the JSOM Social Team, I decided to go for it and try it out. Who knew I would enjoy it so much!

Q: What can you say about your experience so far?

A: I really enjoy studying at UTD and JSOM. There are so many cool, unique opportunities for literally everyone and anyone. Plus, the campus is really inclusive, everyone has someone there for them even if they don’t believe it.

Q: What are some fun things to do around campus?

A: My friends and I enjoy being outside on campus. We play different sports all around campus like pickup soccer, volleyball, and disc golf. I really enjoy how open our campus is!

Q: If you had to work but didn’t need the money, what would you choose to do?

A: I would be a movie critic for a company like Rotten Tomatoes, so I could watch movies before they come out. I love movies, no matter the genre!

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to freshmen, what would it be?

A: Put yourself out there! Don’t be afraid to go up to someone and introduce yourself. Maybe they’re going through the same thing you are and it can turn into a friendship. Don’t knock it till you try it! “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. – Wayne Gretzky” – Michael Scott

Now that all of you are far from JSOM and attending class virtually, we appreciate digital communications more than ever. We hope you enjoyed this blog and would love to hear about your JSOM experience. Fill out our collaborators’ form, or email jsomsocial@utdallas.edu to be featured.
