Take a Texas Voyage; Earn Volunteer Hours

Sign up to take a trip with UTServ Voyagers over Spring Break!

Come back for details on Feb. 1, 2025 about two events over spring break (March 17-23) to earn 40 hours of Jindal School undergraduate volunteer hours. JSOM undergraduate students may apply to be part of this inaugural group of UTDServ Voyagers. Voyagers are dedicated to serving the wider Texas community while earning Jindal School undergrad volunteer hours.

Who can join: Any Jindal School undergrad student who has not completed their service requirement OR has not completed or is enrolled in the following classes:

  • BA 4095 Social Sector Engagement and Community Outreach Practicum (Zero SCH)
  • BPS 4396 Social Impact and Community Engagement
  • IMS 4335 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement
  • ENTP 4340 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement
  • MKT 4360 Social Impact Marketing

What: We’re still working out the details. Come back on Feb. 1 to learn about these great opportunities.

Cost:There will be a nominal, mandatory fee of no more than $100. (This is cheaper than taking a class to waive the requirement.) All transportation and many of your meals will be included. Details will be posted by Feb. 1.

Details

Jindal School Will Provide:

  • Housing for three nights (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) in a nearby hotel; breakfast at the hotel. The historic village has committed to providing sack lunches on Friday and Saturday (Students will be on their own for dinner Thursday, Friday & Saturday).
  • Transportation from UT Dallas campus to Nacogdoches and back. A Responsible University Official will travel with the group and drive the van.

Students will provide:

  • $100 nonrefundable fee, due no later than November 1. Students selected for the trip will be directed to the appropriate Marketplace link to pay the fee (Scholarships are available for Pell Grant eligible students).
  • Funds for dinners on Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
  • Students must agree to abide by all UTD student code of conduct rules and regulations while on this trip. This includes, but is not limited to: no smoking or vaping, no alcohol, no firearms.
  • A great attitude and a willingness to be flexible.
