Crowded Fitting Rooms: A SmartWear Challenge

SmartWear, a popular casual attire retailer that sells to students on a nearby campus, experiences a daily rush hour when students flood the store, leading to overcrowded fitting rooms. Dan, the manager, struggles to manage the high demand efficiently, causing long wait times and customer frustration. He wants to explore ways to solve this problem. After learning more about the situation, your team has been asked to create a SmartWear plan to improve the efficiency and customer experience in the fitting rooms.

2 to 3 team members.

We expect that all the participants constitute their teams on their own. However, we would try our best to find teammates for you after the registration deadline if you need help and it depends on whether there are other individuals looking for teammates. Please make sure you complete the registration.

Participants must be currently enrolled in JSOM in an undergraduate degree. Students outside JSOM are welcome as well.

Yes, the case has been written for any business major. If you are a student from another school at UTD, you may want to team up with a JSOM student.

Yes. Every participant, even an individual who is looking for teammates, has to register. Registration should be completed by the team’s captain and include all team member’s information. The team captains email address and phone numbers will serve as the main point of communication throughout the competition.

The prize money is awarded to the whole team.

Before submission, your timing for working on the case is flexible depending on the schedule of yourself and teammates. If your team becomes one of the finalists, it is not required that every teammate must be a part of the presentation but there has to be a valid proof for reason of absence. You cannot substitute someone else in place of you even if you are absent with a proof of valid reason.
