In celebration of our 40 years of excellence, and as part of the Jindal School’s 40 Acts of Service, the External Relations office is holding a “shoe drive” for Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, the largest humanitarian aid project of Buckner International. The goal is to collect at least 40 pairs of new shoes to donate by March 11
Buckner International is a global, faith-based ministry dedicated to transforming the lives of orphans, vulnerable children, families and elders in the U.S. and around the world. From conducting shoe drives to humanitarian aid trips, Shoes for Orphan Souls offers hands-on opportunities for individuals, groups and organizations wanting to make a difference. Since 1999, Buckner has delivered more than three million pairs of new shoes to children in 80 countries around the world — including the U.S.!
We hope you will contribute to the JSOM 40th Anniversary shoe drive by bringing in one or more pairs of brand new shoes** (greatest need is athletic shoes in sizes Youth 1 to Adult 9) and depositing them in the box in the Dean’s Suite or by the northeast fourth floor elevators around the corner from the Dean’s Suite. We will empty the boxes regularly and store the collected shoes in our back office.
**If you have time, insert a special photo or note for the child receiving the shoes!
On March 11 we will load up all the shoes and take them over to the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid. Questions? Call or email Holly Rio at 883-5030 or holly.rio@utdallas.edu.
Many thanks, everyone!
