Accounting Seniors Celebrate
JSOM undergraduate accounting seniors celebrated the end of the academic year and their forthcoming graduation with a May 8 honors luncheon featuring tributes, awards and career predictions.
After Accounting Area Coordinator and Ashbel Smith Professor William Cready welcomed everyone, a video recounted 2011-2012 accomplishments and closed with a reminder for students to: Work hard. Be honest. Believe in yourself.
Student speakers Diane Henry and Audrey Schnitzius next recapped academic travails — including efforts to figure out UT Dallas parking lot construction maps — and such triumphs as Henry’s participation on the JSOM team that won the first national American Institute of CPAs case competition.
Five students — Jonathan Cogan, William Cole, Vickie Davis, Jessica Moore and Servando Sanchez — were then honored for maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average.
Fun awards that followed named those mostly likely to have a career in the FBI or with the Securities Exchange Commission as well as those most likely to pass all four parts of the Certified Public Accountant exam in one try.
