The Naveen Jindal School of Management, in collaboration with the Shanghai Alumni Association of The University of Texas at Dallas, held a gathering at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai Silver Star Hotel located in downtown Shanghai, China. The July 8 event welcomed all alumni residing in the vicinity, aiming to enhance the bond between the school and its alumni. The occasion provided a platform to exchange past and present experiences, while also providing updates on the recent advancements at the Jindal School and the University.
There were several exciting sessions that took place at the event, including a recorded video message from Dr. Hasan Pirkul, Caruth Chair and Jindal School dean; Dr. Monica Powell, senior associate dean; and Caylin Blockley, Jindal School director of alumni relations. Other sessions included faculty reporting and updates on the university and school academic programming and standings, social networking sessions and roundtable discussions.
Those present included a diverse range of alumni from different graduating years, majors, and fields and it was well understood collectively that everyone was proud of the outstanding achievements of UT Dallas, especially the Jindal School of Management, in academics, rankings, innovation and alumni support. Alumni expressed their hope to continue to maintain close ties with their alma mater and contribute to the future development of UT Dallas.
“The success of the gathering once again proves the close connection between the school and its alumni, Blockley said. “I offer a special thank you to the several faculty and staff who traveled to Shanghai and who care so passionately about JSOM alumni: Dr. Harold Zhang, Dr. Jun Li, Dr. Liping Ma, and Penny Jiang, program manager, MS Finance program manager; alumni guests Li Xiaoyu and Wang Chun, hostess Mo Dongyun; and alumni volunteers.”
