Most ITS professionals are not required to write large and complex computer programs but should know how the code works. ITS professionals interact with computer programmers and even direct them on what to build.
Some ITS professionals hold job titles such as programmer or software engineer, and they spend much of their time developing software and writing code. However, not every job in ITS requires coding. The ITS degree program require all students to take 2 programming classes, ITSS 3311 Introduction to Programming, and ITSS 3312 Object Oriented Programming.
