Biography

Gregg Ballew was engaged in the banking and investment management business for 38 years prior to joining UT Dallas in July, 2020. He currently serves as a Professor of Practice in Accounting and as Executive Director of the Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance at the Naveen Jindal School of Management.

Mr. Ballew previously led the Family Wealth Advisory business at Westwood Wealth Management, and, prior to his ten-year tenure at Westwood, was Regional Managing Director of the Wealth Advisory Group for Northern Trust in Texas. Prior to forming the Texas Wealth Advisory Group, he served as President of the North Texas market for Northern Trust and on the bank’s Texas Board of Directors and Management Committee.

Mr. Ballew is active in the community and has a history of service on numerous non-profit boards. Currently, he is a board member of the Dallas Symphony Association and the Dallas Symphony Foundation, and he is the Audit Committee chair. He is an advisory director of the Alzheimer's Association -- Greater Dallas Chapter, an Honorary Lifetime Director of The Senior Source, a member of the Gift Planning Advisory Committee at UT Dallas, a member and Past President of the Preston Center Rotary Club, and Treasurer of the Preston Center Rotary Club Foundation.

Mr. Ballew earned his MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and his BBA from Baylor University. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Investments & Wealth Institute, and he serves on the board of the CFA Society of Dallas/Fort Worth.
