Internship at Andretti Indoor Karting And Games – Fall 2024
During my internship at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games (AIKG) as an Operations Supervisor at the Grandscape location, I gained valuable experiential and leadership knowledge. AIKG is a dynamic family entertainment company that blends high-speed karting, cutting-edge virtual reality experiences, and a full-service dining environment. Immersing myself in this innovative atmosphere allowed me to refine my managerial skills while fostering a passion for operational excellence. My role as an operations Supervisor demanded a proactive approach to managing daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, cost control, and ensuring service quality. I honed my ability to lead and motivate a team of over 350 employees, focusing on creating an environment of accountability and ownership. By engaging with team members during training sessions and daily operations, I strengthened my communication and conflict-resolution skills, both critical for driving team morale and achieving departmental objectives. One key area of growth was learning to manage guest relations effectively. I took an active role in interacting with guests, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their experience aligned with AIKG’s high standards. This aspect of the internship highlighted the importance of empathy and adaptability in leadership roles. Additionally, managing special events and overseeing cash-handling procedures deepened my understanding of operational intricacies. The internship also provided exposure to cost management strategies and labor optimization, equipping me with a practical understanding of business metrics and financial oversight. I learned to balance service quality with cost efficiency, an essential skill in the hospitality and entertainment industry. Overall, my time at AIKG was transformative. It allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge from my coursework in a real-world setting, while also developing soft skills such as teamwork, organization, and decision-making. These experiences have prepared me to excel in leadership roles and contribute effectively to dynamic, fast-paced environments. #UTDJSOM
