Internship at Chartwells Higher Education – Fall 2024
Embarking on my journey as a Functional Analyst Intern at Chartwells Higher Ed Services, I discovered how data analytics serves as the backbone of strategic decision-making in the hospitality industry. My role centered on unraveling stories hidden in operational and financial metrics—transforming raw numbers into actionable insights that drove tangible improvements across 17 dining retail locations. From sales data to meal exchanges and commissions, I navigated complex datasets to deliver impactful solutions, leveraging tools like Excel, Oracle EMS Server, and Oracle Hospitality Reporting and Analytics. One of my key projects involved developing a reporting model in Excel to analyze monthly and yearly sales trends across all retail locations. This model provided timely insights to senior management, leading to a 10% boost in labor efficiency and enabling quicker, data-driven actions. Additionally, I tracked sales metrics and performance variances, revealing trends in customer behavior that informed strategies for optimizing store operations. I also worked on identifying opportunities for growth in an internal retail brand. By analyzing financial and sales data, I uncovered areas for enhancement and recommended strategic adjustments focused on optimizing sales performance and inventory management, which positively influenced business outcomes. This internship also taught me to manage large datasets, present insights effectively, and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. One of the most important lessons I learned was the significance of attention to detail—how even minor inaccuracies in data can lead to misleading conclusions. Reflecting on My Fall Internship Experience at Lennox International Inc. During the Fall 2024 semester, I had the privilege of continuing my internship journey with Lennox International Inc. in the Controls Quality & Testing division.
During my internship as a Data Automation Analyst at Springer Capital Investments, I developed critical technical skills and gained valuable exposure to the field of data analytics. This opportunity allowed me to contribute to a variety of impactful projects, including workflow automation, designing intelligent solutions for process automation, and the creation of IDE dashboards.
Project Achievements and Insights I recently had the opportunity to do a special project at Fort Aquatics & Gymnastics, where I utilized web analytics to help improve the company’s marketing strategy. This project allowed me to apply my technical skills, leverage tools like Google Ads, Excel, Python, and Tableau, and provide actionable recommendations to help strengthen the company’s advertising performance.
My internship at LBS Dallas, LLC, was a great experience that helped me develop essential skills and learn more about tax accounting. During my time there, I prepared business and personal tax returns using Drake Software, reconciled accounts in QuickBooks Desktop, and worked on creating financial reports.
