This fall, I had the privilege of continuing my professional journey with ASTM International, transitioning from my summer internship to a Fall Co-op. Building on my earlier experiences, this opportunity allowed me to delve deeper into innovative projects and further refine my expertise in Business Analytics. During this internship, I contributed to several impactful projects, most notably developing a PDF Chatbot powered by Gemini Pro API, OpenAI API, and Large Language Models (LLM). This cutting-edge chatbot was designed to process and respond to user queries based on the vast data contained within the Wohlers Report. To enhance user experience, I created a custom frontend interface using Streamlit, which made the chatbot accessible and user-friendly. Hosting the chatbot on a server and optimizing its performance provided hands-on experience with AI-driven technologies and large-scale data interaction, showcasing how advanced analytics and deep learning can transform user engagement and automate complex tasks. In addition to the chatbot, I developed a searchable database for efficient data storage and management, integrated seamlessly with a custom frontend interface using Streamlit. This interface allowed users to interact with the data intuitively, providing streamlined access to valuable insights and enabling better decision-making. These efforts further strengthened my skills in building end-to-end solutions for complex data challenges. I also took on the challenge of creating a cloud database using AWS, leveraging my academic background in Database Foundations for Business Analytics and AWS Cloud Analytics. This database played a pivotal role in managing the extensive data required for the chatbot and other analysis tasks, offering secure and scalable solutions that are essential in today’s data-driven world. Another highlight of this experience was developing advanced Tableau dashboards, which transformed complex data into intuitive visualizations. These dashboards empowered stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions. The skills I gained from university workshops and projects were instrumental in successfully delivering these tools. To enhance efficiency, I implemented Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools like AutoHotkey and Octoparse to automate data extraction from websites and PDFs. These tools significantly streamlined repetitive tasks, optimizing the data collection process. Moreover, I used Feedly to stay abreast of the latest trends in additive manufacturing. This ensured that the team remained informed about industry advancements, directly supporting strategic market intelligence efforts. This internship has been an incredible learning experience, reinforcing my technical and analytical abilities while deepening my understanding of AI, cloud databases, data visualization, and automation. I’m grateful for the opportunity to apply these skills and excited about the journey ahead. I’d like to thank Mahdi Jamshid(nia) for his unwavering guidance and feedback throughout this journey. A special thank you to Prof. Gaurav Shekhar, Sivya Leventhal, and my professors at The University of Texas at Dallas for their continued guidance and encouragement. I’m also incredibly grateful to my colleague, Arpita Lonakadi, for her collaboration and support throughout this internship. #UTDMSBA #FallInternship #BusinessAnalytics #AI #AWS #Tableau #Streamlit #OpenAI #Automation #AdditiveManufacturing #HireJSOM
