Concluding an incredible 7-month journey as a Product Data Engineering Intern at HP Inc., I can truly say this experience has been both rewarding and transformative. From the moment I joined, I had the chance to work with amazing teams and learn invaluable skills that have shaped my understanding of data engineering and analytics. This summer, I started my internship with the Data Analytics Team, where I focused on developing and maintaining dashboards to provide insights across various teams. This hands-on work with tools like ThoughtSpot gave me a solid foundation in data visualization and the impact it has on decision-making. After the summer program, my internship continued, and I transitioned to the Data Ingestion Team, where I learned about the technical side of data flow in DataOS. I worked on developing and validating data products using DBT and Databricks and became familiar with Common Data Models (CDMs) collected by the OneCloud Agent Collector. This experience taught me a lot about building data products and working with ELT pipelines. One of the key highlights of my internship was my involvement in projects revolving around the transition to DataOS, replacing the older PS Data Lake. I contributed to multiple projects, including my main project, Device Consent Analysis in DataOS. I developed a data product for device consent and created a dashboard using ThoughtSpot, allowing teams to track and analyze device consent metrics. I also worked on improving dashboard efficiency by creating a common filter table for dashboards, streamlining filter management, and improving performance. Additionally, I assisted in use case analysis and built a couple of dashboards, including applications and their usage, which are accessible to teams across the PS organization. Moreover, to ensure high data quality, I collaborated with the Data Collector team, identifying and reporting issues. The cross-team collaboration between Data Ingestion and Analytics was one of the most rewarding parts of the internship, as I got to see how data flows in DataOS—from the creation of Data Products to visualization. A special moment for me was presenting my work to Hannu Uusitalo, VP of Personal Systems Software Platforms. It was a truly rewarding experience to share my contributions with such an influential leader. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my manager, Velu Palaniswamy, and mentor, Sara Eshaghi, for believing in me throughout this journey. A big thank you to my incredible team members—Sagar Khandar, Jayanandan Mutalikdesai, Walter Gomero, VINU VARGHESE, and Akanksha Kaul—for their valuable insights, expertise, and constructive feedback, all of which helped me grow tremendously. My time at HP has been an immensely fulfilling experience, and I look forward to continuing my journey here. #HPInc #UTDMSBA
