New UTD Faculty This Year

This 2022-2023 academic year, the University of Texas at Dallas proudly welcomes dozens of new faculty members to conduct industry-leading research and provide students with advanced instruction. Among the new faces on campus is Dr. Yining Wang, who joins the Naveen Jindal School of Management as an associate professor.

About Professor Wang’s Education

Professor Wang completed his undergraduate degree in computer science and technology at Tsinghua University in China. Continuing his education at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, he earned his master’s in machine learning in 2017 and graduated with his doctorate just two years later.

Directly before joining the faculty of UTD, professor Wang spent three years as an assistant professor at the University of Florida. While there, he taught business analytics classes to graduate students.

Professor Wang’s research focuses on the applications of machine learning in revenue management. Throughout his academic career, he has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Management Science and Operations Research.

Joining UTD Faculty

Looking to relocate and find a place where he and his wife could potentially work in the same department, professor Wang found himself attracted to the opportunity at UTD. Now he feels excited to work alongside the many fantastic faculty members in the Operations Management Area at Jindal, while enjoying a better life for his family.

Professor Wang’s New Role at UTD

Professor Wang joined the UTD team on July 1st. In addition to his research, professor Wang will be teaching Prescriptive Analysis, a class for graduate students in the business analytics and the operation research programs.

Outside of his work on campus, professor Wang enjoys playing table tennis, participating in competitive coding competitions like Google Code Jam, and solving mathematical questions. He looks forward to enjoying life in the big city now that his family has moved to Dallas.
