Assistant professor Paul Cheung

New UTD Faculty This Year

Dozens of new faculty members join the University of Texas at Dallas team this coming 2022-2023 academic year. The Jindal School of Management welcomes Dr. Paul Cheung, who serves as a new assistant professor of managerial economics. Together with the rest of the Jindal School faculty and staff, he will help conduct groundbreaking research and provide direction to future professionals.

About Professor Cheung’s Education

Professor Cheung graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics. He continued his education at the University of Maryland at College Park, pursuing his doctorate. His graduation with his Ph.D. in Economics took place just this past May of 2022.

The National Science Foundation recently awarded professor Cheung a Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant, providing funds for him to conduct his studies. Professor Cheung feels the results from the funded experiments turned out promising and he looks forward to sharing and publishing his research findings.

Joining UTD Faculty

Professor Cheung has long desired a career in Academia where he could research and teach. UTD offered the opportunity to pursue his academic career in a great location. Professor Cheung felt that Dallas would be an ideal city in which to live and described it as, “a central hub of America.” When invited to become an Assistant Professor at the Jindal School of Management, he felt that it was a dream come true.

Professor Cheung’s New Role at UTD

Professor Cheung began work on campus on August 1st. In addition to his research, he will be teaching two courses in the fall semester including Making Choices in Free Market Systems for undergraduates and Advanced Managerial Economics for PhD students.

Outside of work, professor Cheung enjoys music and he plays both the piano and the guitar. Back in Hong Kong, he used to do busking, or street music performances, with friends. Having recently discovered interesting videos of Paramotoring on the internet, professor Cheung is excited to try new hobbies and embark on new adventures in Dallas. The staff and faculty at the Jindal School of Management proudly welcome professor Cheung to the UTD team.
