New UTD Faculty This Year
For the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year, the University of Texas at Dallas will welcome dozens of new faculty members to campus. The Jindal School of Management welcomes a new assistant professor of operations management, Dr. Neda Mirzaeian. She will join the UTD team in conducting industry-leading research and providing instruction to students.
About Professor Mirzaeian’s Education
Professor Mirzaeian graduated from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran with her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 2013. She continued her education in Pennsylvania, earning a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016 and going on to enter the doctorate program at Carnegie Mellon University. She graduated with her Ph.D. in Operations just this past spring.
While professor Mirzaeian is proud of her research and published papers as well as thrilled to be able to collaborate with great academics, she finds teaching to be one of her proudest professional achievements. While teaching classes as a Ph.D. candidate, she felt pleased when students contacted her after the class to let her know that the class influenced them to pursue a Ph.D. in Operations for themselves.
Joining UTD Faculty
After graduating with her doctorate, professor Mirzaeian felt drawn to the faculty at UTD. Many of the professionals at UTD are well-known in her field of study, and she had previously explored their works while doing research as a Ph.D. student. Impressed by the dynamic and diverse UTD campus as well as the surrounding city of Dallas, professor Mirzaeian accepted the opportunity to become an assistant professor at the Jindal School of Management.
Professor Mirzaeian’s New Role at UTD
Professor Mirzaeian began work at UTD on August 1st. During the fall semester she will focus on her research and in the spring she will be teaching Operations Management to undergraduates.
Having just moved to the Dallas area, professor Mirzaeian and her husband delight in exploring the city and trying out new restaurants, especially pet-friendly locations where they can bring their little dog. While driving to work, professor Mirzaeian enjoys listening to true crime podcasts. The faculty and staff of Jindal proudly welcome professor Mirzaeian to campus and look forward to collaborating together.
