Summer is fast approaching, and many teens are BUSY trying to manage end-of-year commitments, projects and parties while trying to plan the transition to those endless summer days. You are giddy with excitement for the opportunity to be connected to the world through video games, social media and Internet browsing. But what if you could step away for a week –– change your way of thinking about technology and how it all works?
Imagine you’re sitting in your living room and feel like having coffee, and all you need to do is “tap” on your mobile phone, which instructs your coffee maker to start the brew. A few minutes later, your personal robot rolls into the room with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Sounds unreal? Do you know that by the year 2020, 50 billion devices will be connected to each other in an ecosystem that we call the Internet of Things? Right from your mobile phone to your washer to your refrigerator to your car, everything will be connected to provide you with all the conveniences possible.
Does it sound interesting? If using such systems would be amazing, imagine how fun it would be to invent such systems. Do you see yourself as a “change-maker” in the world of information technology (IT)? Do you get thrilled by the idea of building systems centered on computers?
If all this has you thinking about how to develop skills that would propel you into the world of IT as a creator, ideator, manager, analyst or other role, the solution is right here. If you’re a rising freshman, sophomore, junior or senior interested in a career in information technology and the systems behind the technology, then this summer camp is for you!
“ITS Academy…Explore ITS” will run from June 20 through June 24 at The University of Texas at Dallas in the Naveen Jindal School of Management.
Information technology has become one of the fastest-growing professional fields offering an increasing number and variety of career opportunities. The technology sector is engrained in each aspect of business, and understanding the different segments of information technology is vital. Careers in IT range from database administrator and software engineer to systems analyst and IT manager. With a continuous growing demand for students specializing in the IT sectors, it’s essential for you to know which career path best fits you.
Our ITS summer camp is a five-day STEM education learning camp where you explore various aspects of information technology and connect with STEM-related opportunities. You will have the opportunity to spend weekdays on campus interacting with current UT Dallas ITS students and faculty members to fully grasp how the education provided can be applied in real-world situations.
Camp tuition includes hands-on experiences, a souvenir T-shirt, certificate of completion, snacks, lunches and drinks. There are workshops, field trips with corporate site visits and activities that will let you explore building your own applications, checking out information security and hacking, and more!
