Expectations for NLA Membership

Undergraduate students will be required to register in the following course while enrolled as a student and as a Nash Leader member:

  • BA 3300 – Advanced Topics in Capitalism: Ideas and Challenges That Shape our World

Undergraduate NLP members are also required to complete at least one of the following courses:

  • IMS 4334 – International Leadership
  • OBHR 4310 – Business Ethics
  • OBHR 4350 – Introduction to Leading and Managing
  • OBHR 4358 – Transformational Leadership, Ethics and Social Responsibility in Practice

In addition to being members of the Nash Leaders Association, both undergraduate and graduate students will be required to join another JSOM organization and seek a leadership position in that organization.

Requirements for Nash Leadership Award

If a student has fully participated in the Nash Leader’s Organization and, upon graduation:

  1. Is ranked in the top 20 percent of their class according to GPA as an undergraduate student,
  2. Has completed two designated courses,
  3. Has assisted in helping the interview process for new members of the Nash Leader Association,
  4. Has obtained a senior leadership position in a student or community organization, and
  5. Has demonstrated a pattern of performing at a high level with good character and high integrity, then that student will be named as a recipient of the Nash Leader Award upon graduation.

An administrative committee will review all graduating members (via résumé and interview) to determine whether recipients have successfully met the criteria. Each scholar will be recognized at graduation and will be given a lapel pin and certificate.

Nash Scholars will receive a $1,000 award to continue their education or pursue additional education. All Nash Leader Award recipients will be honored at a dinner weeks before graduation. They will also be showcased in a news release and in school publications. Nash Program alums will be expected to support ongoing events for future Nash Leaders.
