UTDsolv Process: How It Works!

  • Each project is completed in one semester (16 weeks – Fall semester projects begin in August, and spring semester projects begin in mid-January).
  • Each project starts after the faculty advisor and students work collaboratively with the client to determine the project scope.
  • The faculty assigns a group of 3-5 students to the project.
  • The client appoints a primary contact or a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to clarify requirements, facilitate communications and review weekly status reports. The client will receive a final PowerPoint presentation/report.

Testimonials

Santiago Canepa

Director, Marketing, Latin America & Caribbean Motorola Solutions

I had the opportunity to work on a Marketing capstone project with the Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas. I needed an exhaustive competitive intelligence analysis on a line of business for our company, so I gave them the goal, the competitors, geographic area, and the required metrics. Three teams worked on the project, and I was pleasantly surprised by the information gathered and the students’ level of engagement. It was a very rewarding experience as a mentor to students. I would definitely recommend working with JSOM to anyone not having enough resources and needing high-quality work.

Each student spends about 10 hours a week on the project during the semester.

The faculty advisor assigns and allocates students to the projects.

A project may relate to a specific business problem, major, or several academic disciplines.

After completing the course, each student receives three semester credit hours.

JSOM offers the course every fall and spring semester.

Yes, but it is not easy because students need to dedicate many hours per week to the project (at least 10 hours per week) and the internship (at least 20 hours per week). Thus, students are strongly discouraged from enrolling in both in the same semester.
