General Program Overview
  • Are scholarships available for students?
  • Yes, scholarships are available for national and international students. In addition to the Jindal School of Management scholarships, there are some scholarships given by UT Dallas.

  • What is the advantage of the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship?
  • In addition to the $1,000 scholarship for the academic year (not per semester), you qualify for the Texas resident tuition rate which in a one academic year period can be equivalent to $ 8,600 to $12,400 in savings.

  • Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
  • Yes, students can apply for as many as scholarships as they wish. However, in most cases you can only be awarded one scholarship per year. Most scholarships do NOT allow you to “stack” or use more than one scholarship per semester/year.

  • Do I need to apply for scholarships separately or will I automatically be considered for scholarships upon admission?
  • All students must apply for scholarships through a separate scholarship application process. You can find more information on the application process and the online application by visiting undergraduate or graduate scholarship pages.

  • Do I need to be enrolled at UT Dallas to apply for the scholarship?
  • No, students do not need to be enrolled at UT Dallas to apply for the scholarships, but they must be admitted to a program to apply and be considered for a scholarship. They must be enrolled for a minimum of 5 semester credit hours to receive a scholarship. Students should register for the required number of semester credit hours once they come to UT Dallas.

  • I am an International Student and have taken the GRE. Can I still apply for Scholarships?
  • Yes, we will take and use either a GRE or GMAT score for Scholarship consideration.

  • I am an International Student who has been asked to switch to the Joint MS-MBA Program to receive my scholarship. How do I find out more about this program?
  • Answers to most of the questions students have about the program are posted on the Joint MS-MBA page.

  • If I have been asked to switch to the Joint MS-MBA Program to receive my scholarship, do I need to apply for a new I-20 before applying for a visa?
  • If you want a new I-20 containing information about your award, which affects your stated financial needs, the UT Dallas International Student Services Office will be happy to issue you a new I-20. Please contact the International Student office directly at ISSOProspective@utdallas.edu.

New Graduate Students
  • Are graduate scholarships available for new students?
  • Yes, graduate scholarships are available for resident, non-resident and international students enrolled in JSOM.

  • What is the advantage of graduate scholarships awarded by JSOM?
  • In addition to the one-time $1,000 scholarship for the academic year (not per semester), scholarship awardees of competitive scholarships qualify for the Texas-resident tuition rate for the duration of the academic year in which the scholarship is awarded. The value can be equivalent to nearly half of the non-resident tuition rate.

  • Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
  • Yes, students can apply for as many as scholarships as they wish. However, in most cases you can only be awarded one scholarship per year. Most scholarships do NOT allow you to “stack” or use more than one scholarship per semester/year.

  • Do I need to apply for graduate scholarships separately or will I automatically be considered for scholarships upon admission?
  • Yes, all students MUST apply for graduate scholarship at JSOM by completing the appropriate scholarship application form. Applications for graduate scholarship will not be considered by the JSOM Graduate Scholarship Committee until university and program admission is granted.  More information regarding the application process is available at the JSOM graduate scholarship website.

  • Do I need to be enrolled at UT Dallas to apply for graduate scholarship?
  • No, students do not need to be enrolled at UT Dallas to apply for graduate scholarships, but they must be admitted to a program to apply and be considered for a scholarship. Students should register for more than 6 credit hours each semester of their scholarship award period; exceptions are provided in semesters of internship and degree completion.

  • I am an International student and have taken the GRE. Can I still apply for graduate scholarships?
  • Yes, either a GRE or GMAT score is utilized in consideration for the Dean’s Excellence Scholarship for New Graduate Students.

  • I am an International Student who has been asked to switch to the Joint MS-MBA Program to receive my scholarship. How do I find out more about this program?
  • Answers to common questions regarding the program are available at the Joint MS-MBA page.(Please submit a new application for the MBA program )

  • If I have been asked to switch to the Joint MS-MBA Program to receive my scholarship, do I need to apply for a new I-20 before applying for a visa?
  • If you would prefer an updated I-20 containing information about your scholarship award, at your request, the UT Dallas International Student Services Office will issue you an updated I-20. Please contact the International Student office directly at ISSOProspective@utdallas.edu.

  • If I accept the scholarship and agree to change my program, what if I change my mind after I arrive at UT Dallas?
  • If after you arrive, you choose to maintain your initial program of graduate application, your scholarship status will not be negatively affected.

  • My scholarship has yet to credit to my student account in EZ Pay, what do I do? My payment deadline is approaching.
  • The JSOM Graduate Scholarship Office works diligently with the Bursar’s Office and the Office of Financial Aid to ensure all scholarship awards are processed.  Occasionally, a payment deadline must be extended by the Office of Financial Aid due to processing delays.  Please be patient.

Continuing Graduate Students
  • Are graduate scholarships available for continuing students?
  • Yes, continuing graduate scholarships are available for national and international students. In addition to the Jindal School of Management scholarships.

  • What is the advantage of graduate scholarships awarded by JSOM?

  • I was just offered an internship. I will not be enrolled in the minimum of 6 credit hours to maintain my scholarship. What can I do?
  • The JSOM Graduate Scholarship Committee has provided exceptions to the 6 semester credit hour requirement to scholarship students enrolled in internship credit.

  • During the upcoming semester, I only have 3 credit hours to complete my degree. Will I be able to maintain my scholarship?
  • The JSOM Graduate Scholarship Committee has provided exceptions to the 6 credit hour requirement to scholarship students enrolled the last semester of their graduate degree program.

  • I have completed a degree at JSOM and would like to continue my graduate studies at JSOM and earn another degree. Should I complete the graduate scholarship application as a new or a continuing student?
  • If you have ever been enrolled as a graduate student at JSOM prior to your application for scholarship, you would be considered a continuing student for purposes of scholarship application – including situations involving extended periods of time between completion of prior degree and enrollment in an additional graduate degree program at JSOM.

  • My scholarship has yet to credit to my student account in EZ Pay, what do I do? My payment deadline is approaching.
