Hal Brierley

Hal Brierley, a pioneer in the development of customer loyalty programs and the developer behind the groundbreaking AAdvantage® program at American Airlines, will speak April 20 at the inaugural event of the annual Marketing Legends awards. The AAdvantage® program is the seminal product that cemented in travelers’ minds the value of always booking flights, whether for work or vacation, on the same carrier. It has, over the years, been broadly adopted by hotels, resorts, restaurants and others.

Brierley, a Highland Park resident, also was co-founder of Epsilon, a billion dollar company, as well as a founder of eRewards (renamed Research Now). In 1985, Brierley founded Brierley+Partners and has led the company through almost three decades of growth.

Appearing with Brierley at the Jindal School event will be Lee Cullum, a veteran journalist, host of CEO on KERA-TV, commentator for Morning Edition on KERA-FM and contributor to The Dallas Morning News.

Brierley and Cullum will discuss Rewards for Engagement: Winning the “Share of Attention” Battle. Their conversation will include:

  • How “share of attention” is becoming as important as “share of wallet.”
  • The background and future of loyalty programs.
  • Building blocks to make loyalty programs a profit center.
  • Maintaining customer attention and loyalty with Rewards for Engagement™ programs.

The Naveen Jindal School of Management is pleased to honor Brierley as its first recipient of the Marketing Legends award. Following the free lecture (no RSVP required) is a banquet (tickets still available) honoring Brierley.
