The Naveen Jindal School of Management brought home gold and silver accolades from the recent annual district conference of the Council for the Support and Advancement of Education — CASE — in Austin.

JSOM’s alumni relations and development team earned a CASE District IV best-in-class gold award for its efforts to raise funds internally, among Jindal School faculty and staff, in conjunction with the recent UT Dallas capital campaign. The school’s Web Services team picked up an exceptional entry silver award for creating the MyJSOM mobile app.

The alumni and development group picked up top honors at the April conference in the Major Gifts/Campaign category, for creating and executing the Team JSOM: United in Excellence faculty and staff campaign. Development and Alumni Relations Director Brittany Huber and Assistant Director of Development Caroline Mandel took the lead on the campaign, which raised more than $923,000.

Staff and faculty members who played key roles in promoting the Team JSOM: United in Excellence effort included (clockwise from top right) John Barden, director of the BS in Accounting program; Nick Hinojosa, undergraduate student services coordinator; Pamela Foster Brady, director of the Executive MBA and Global Leadership MBA programs; Julie Haworth, director the BS in Marketing program, Dr. Habte Woldu, director of the MS in International Management Studies program; and Jennifer Johnson, senior lecturer in the accounting program.

With the support of several faculty and staff members who served as campaign spokesmen and through various outreach efforts including a website, promotional fliers and posters, email updates, and one-on-one meetings, the alumni and development staff encouraged the school’s educators and employees to contribute to Realize the Vision, the University’s first comprehensive fundraising effort.

“Financial backing from faculty and staff members is special because it demonstrates a commitment to the Jindal School beyond daily work obligations,” Yeager says. “We decided on the Team JSOM approach because it spoke to the idea that everyone at the school can contribute to the tradition of excellence that Dean [Hasan] Pirkul emphasizes.”

JSOM Web and Social Media Director Vivek Arora and Web Software Developer Nitin Grover received their CASE honors in the Social Media – Mobile Application category. The duo developed the free MyJSOM app “primarily so that students on the go could easily access useful Jindal School resources, such as event listings, course lookup, the faculty and staff directory, the school building map and JSOM news,” Arora says.

An international professional organization serving more than 3,600 educational institutions and their employees who work in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas, CASE annually recognizes best practices and outstanding people through its awards programs. UT Dallas is part of CASE District IV, a chapter serving Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
