MS in Supply Chain Management

Every year, the MS SCM program at UT Dallas provides various events and engagements between supply chain industry partners and students. These events allow students to network with industry executives, better understand the market and learn more about internships and jobs and what it is expected of them in the workforce. Students also participate in local and nationally known supply chain case competitions.

The supply chain management program at UT Dallas sponsors a variety of events for students through the peer-to-peer mentoring program, faculty mentoring program, alumni events, or graduation celebrations. The intent is to provide opportunities for students and employers to connect, engage, and network with each other.

Supply Chain Leadership Council organizes guest speaker events, career network mixers, industrial site visits and supply chain related educational games for solving real-time business problems (such as General Motors, Toyota, Google Express, Caterpillar, FedEx, Ericsson, Intelligrated, and Texas Instruments and many more).

Please fill out the online application form. There is the one-time membership fee of $15 to join SCLC. There are some of the events and activities are only limited to the registered council members.

What do you do?

INFORMS at UT Dallas is the student chapter of the international society of Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences” at the Naveen Jindal School of Management. Since its inception in 2011 under the Supply Chain Management program, INFORMS has evolved over the years with its vision to be the single focal point of overall development and growth of student community with interests in areas of operations management, management science, and analytics. We conduct quality guest speaker events, professional development workshops, and Texas level business case competitions and we always strive to provide the JSOM students with the best opportunities to complement their classroom education by learning first-hand about industry best practices, career opportunities, real-world problems, and in-turn developing strong professional connections.

INFORMS helps students to stay updated with the latest trends and industry best practices through guest speaker events, workshops and case competitions. Being a member of INFORMS would give you a platform to fine-tune and develop your technical and professional skills. How can I get involved?

This is a completely student-run organization and we believe in participating, learning and eventually leading. You can get yourself involved by attending our guest speaker events, workshops and competitions. You can also be part of our team and volunteer with us to organize events and in-turn help the student community here at JSOM. APICS UT Dallas is the official student affiliate chapter of the APICS North Texas Chapter. APICS is the Association for Operations Management, the premier source of the body of knowledge in Operations Management, including Manufacturing, Production, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Purchasing, Logistics, and Lean Enterprise.

With the constantly growing industry standards, APICS UTD student chapter strives to fill in the gap between the industry and students by conduct events all throughout the year that help students connect with industry professionals and develop themselves into market ready assets.

Career Connections:

Our career connection events help students to address their career related queries in the field of supply chain where students get personalized one-on-one sessions with industry professionals from top companies such as Toyota, Texas Instruments, Verizon, Ericsson, DPSG, etc. These connections go a long way in helping students develop and build their professional outlook. These group meetings are conducted with a limited number to encourage students to build a personnel connection with the professionals.

Industry Visits:

Industry visits are arranged for students to visit the premises of the companies dealing with warehousing, logistics and operations. These help them relate their classroom education with the practical applications.

APICS UTD is more than just professional networking and career enhancement; being part of APICS UTD helps you get actively involved in social responsibility and team building activities.

Professional Development Meetings (PDM):

Professional developing meetings (PDM) offer great opportunities to students to network with supply chain experts in the DFW region and acquire comprehensive knowledge on the best practices followed in the industry. Many students have benefitted from these meetings as they continue to stay in touch and receive career guidance from the executives. Members of APICS UTD get to attend the meetings at discounted prices, along with the logistics to the venue provided by the student chapter.

UT Dallas IHI meeting UT Dallas IHI presentation

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School Chapter is a face-to-face, interprofessional group at UT Dallas. It brings students from different interests such as healthcare management, supply chain, and pre-health majors through a shared interest in learning about quality improvement and improving care for patients. It creates a forum for like-minded students to interact and help each other gain skills to improve care. The IHI Open School Network provides students with opportunities to learn more, network with peers, connect with engaged and supportive faculty, accomplish scholarly activities such as publishing and presenting work, and a recognized a basic certificate in quality and safety, free of cost.

By working closely with the National ISM (Institute for Supply Management) organization, the first and largest not for-profit supply management organization, as well as the local ISM Dallas group, ISM UTD Student Chapter is in the position to provide students with unique networking and professional advancement opportunities, as well as build the reputation of the UTD supply chain program through its efforts to support and serve the ISM network.

The goal of ISM UTD Student Chapter is to connect students interested in supply chain management with supply chain professionals, and thereby increase student knowledge of real world supply management techniques through professional networking, guest speakers, site visits, and mentoring opportunities. In addition ISM UTD student chapter seeks to connect both graduate and undergraduate students with each other as well as with professionals for mutual education, growth, and leadership opportunities.
