Four Naveen Jindal School of Management alums have been elected to the Dallas Certified Public Accounting Society (DCPAS) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) boards of directors.
Lisa M. Ong, who earned a master’s degree in management and administrative sciences with a concentration in organizational behavior and professional executive coaching in 2014, was named incoming chair-elect for the Dallas CPA Society.
Ong, a national talent management director and internal executive coach for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Office of Diversity, is also a director-at-large for the TSCPA through 2018. She is a past chair of the TSCPA Diversity and Inclusion Committee and has served on the TSCPA Strategic Planning Committee. She is also completing her fourth year on the American Institute of CPA (AICPA) National Commission on Diversity and Inclusion, and she has recently been appointed to serve on the AICPA Governing Council beginning this year.
Ong focuses on diversity and inclusion, leadership development, coaching and facilitation. She has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting in financial services auditing and 12 years of leadership experience in diversity, human capital, talent management and leadership development.
Kenny Broom, MS ’08, CEO of Merit Consulting, Walter (Skip) Muller, BS ’77, owner of Muller & Company P.C. and one of the Jindal School’s first accounting students, and Mitch Perry, MBA ’90, president of Fox, Byrd & Company P.C., were elected to the TSCPA board for the next term.
Broom also serves on the board of the Dallas CPA Society and chaired the Leadership Development Academy from 2013 to 2015. He currently serves on several DCPAS committees, including the Finance Committee, the LDA Committee, the Vision Committee and the Young CPAs and Emerging Professionals Committee.
Perry, who has served in many leadership roles for the Dallas CPA Society and the TSCPA, including chairman, treasurer, Public Affairs Committee chair and Executive Board member, has sat on the TSCPA board since 2006. Perry received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Angelo State University and an MBA with a focus in accounting in 1990.
Other JSOM alumni serving on the TSCPA board include Kendall H. Helfenbein, MBA ’04 and MS ’06, Alyssa G. Martin, BS’90. and MBA ’96, and Diane S. Pappas, BS ’94, whose terms expire in 2018.
Three JSOM faculty members – Jennifer Johnson and Art Agulnek, senior lecturers in accounting, and Sam Cheng, adjunct lecturer in accounting, were also elected to the TSCPA board. Johnson also serves on the board of the Dallas CPA Society.
