Jindal School Now

Jindal School Now is the official communique of Naveen Jindal School of Management Dean Hasan Pirkul. The newsletter periodically reports significant current events and developments within the school, including news about events, programs, research, and alumni, faculty and student achievements.

Jindal School Now is the successor to eManagement.

The newsletter is sent to JSOM alumni, corporate supporters and other friends, and to fellow deans in other business programs, which, like the Jindal School, have been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.

I hope you and your loved ones are doing well. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people. However, we at UT Dallas are prepared to deal with this situation. To protect our students and faculty, we have moved in-person classes to online teaching via Blackboard Collaborate. While it is a learning experience for us all, so far everything is going smoothly. We are optimistic that we will resume normal activities in the near future.

Over the past several months, the Naveen Jindal School of Management made strong showings in multiple rankings. The productivity of the Jindal School’s research faculty earned a No. 3 ranking in the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings™, both worldwide and in North America. Alumni from the Naveen Jindal School of Management boosted the school’s reputation recently in their responses to survey questions from Bloomberg Businessweek. The Jindal School ranked highly on four of five questions Bloomberg asked MBA graduates. The questions were part of survey data Bloomberg collected in compiling its 2018 Bloomberg Businessweek Best B-Schools rankings.

The UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings™, released Feb. 21, show universities around the globe gaining competitive ground in business school research productivity.Published annually since 2005 by the Naveen Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas, the rankings are a compilation based on business school faculty research publications in 24 leading peer-reviewed journals. Each year, the rankings, reported for schools in North America and across the globe, reflect a rolling five-year average.

North Texas real estate luminaries Donna and Herb Weitzman announced a $3 million gift to the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas at the school’s annual Scholarship Breakfast on Nov. 6. The gift establishes the Herbert D. Weitzman Institute for Real Estate, which will provide scholarships to eligible undergraduate finance and business administration students pursuing a concentration in real estate. The money also will finance real estate student trips to case competitions and conferences. The cachet of the Weitzman name will open doors for student internship opportunities as well.

Two new rankings from U.S. News & World Report reinforce UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management’s leadership role in online learning programs in graduate management education. Released Jan. 10, the 2017 Best Online Programs Rankings placed both the online MBA and online graduate business programs in the Top 10. JSOM’s online graduate business programs solidified their positions by jumping from No. 4 in 2016 to No. 2 in 2017. The online MBA program moved up from No. 9 to No. 7.
