Program Description

The Master of Science in Financial Technology and Analytics (MS FTEC) is a 36 credit-hour STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program in the Naveen Jindal School of Management. This Fintech program provides students with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to pursue careers involving financial data analytics, financial technology, or risk management.

  • The program is designed for students with or without previous educational background in finance, but with a proclivity toward more quantitative approaches to managerial issues.
  • Students completing this program will have the knowledge necessary to:
    • Build a block-chain with smart contracts or create a crypto-currency.
    • Create RPAs to obtain data and execute subsequent actions.
    • Use Python or R to analyze data using econometric tools
    • Use Python or R to apply machine learning algorithms to finance
    • Use cloud computing platforms
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) in their course work to qualify for the MS degree.

While our full-time program is a cohort program, we do offer a part-time program for working professionals. Both programs only begin each fall. In addition, we limit enrollment in order to devote time to each student.

Students with at least an undergraduate degree, though in any subject, are welcome to apply. However, students are required to have completed course work in calculus, linear algebra, probability/statistics, and programming with a B or better. Applicants who have not satisfied these requirements may be admitted but will need to satisfy the prerequisites through course work or other means selected by the program director prior to beginning the program course work.
