The features that set the UT Dallas MS ITM program apart are the breadth and depth of the curriculum and its flexibility. The curriculum offers electives in relevant IT topics and many of these courses are offered in evening. Also many courses are offered online to provide maximum flexibility. Since there is no difference in content between online and on-campus classes, a student can mix online and on-campus courses to satisfy the degree requirements.

The program also offers opportunities for students with special interests to concentrate in a specific track within the IT area such as enterprise systems, information security and assurance, IT consulting and entrepreneurship or healthcare systems. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in both core courses and aggregate courses to qualify for the MS degree.

Obtaining certifications in specific areas of IT can enhance career prospects. The program offers courses that will prepare students to take these exams. Students should acquire certification in at least one area.

UT Dallas/SAS Data Mining and Business Intelligence, and SAP Consultant certifications can be completed by taking courses/programs at UT Dallas. Other popular certifications include Certified IS Auditor (CISA), CISSP, CISM and CompTIASecurity+. Various courses available in MIS will help prepare students for these certification exams.

The students in the MS ITM program come from variety of educational, professional, and geographic backgrounds. Many have technical undergraduate background in engineering, computer science or MIS, and majority has professional experience. Please see Fall 2012 Student Profile.
