Accounting Seniors Celebrate

Honorees of the Accounting Program

JSOM undergraduate accounting seniors celebrated the end of the academic year and their forthcoming graduation with a May 8 honors luncheon featuring tributes, awards and career predictions. After Accounting Area Coordinator and Ashbel Smith Professor William Cready welcomed everyone, a video recounted 2011-2012 accomplishments and closed with a reminder for students to: Work hard. Be honest. Believe in yourself. Student speakers Diane Henry and Audrey Schnitzius next recapped academic travails — including efforts to figure out UT Dallas parking lot construction maps — and such triumphs as Henry’s participation on the JSOM team that won the first national American Institute of CPAs case competition.

Five students — Jonathan Cogan, William Cole, Vickie Davis, Jessica Moore and Servando Sanchez — were then honored for maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. Fun awards that followed named those mostly likely to have a career in the FBI or with the Securities Exchange Commission as well as those most likely to pass all four parts of the Certified Public Accountant exam in one try. Find more details in the program and the list of awards. See more luncheon photos here.
