MS in Finance Degree Options
The Master of Science in Finance (MS FIN) is a 36 semester credit hours degree program (18-24 months) at the Naveen Jindal School of Management that provides students with the practical and theoretical knowledge needed by finance professionals. Students learn the quantitative skills required to analyze financial information, make financial decisions and valuations, select and analyze portfolios and manage risk. MS Finance students also gain proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and other technological skills needed to evaluate financial data.
The School offers two options for students:.
MS Finance Flex
The flex program allows students the flexibility to complete the program at their own pace. It also allows students the flexibility to choose courses and gain knowledge to pursue opportunities in financial analysis, corporate finance/investment banking, financial risk management, energy risk management, enterprise risk management and real estate. Admission to the program occurs in Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.MS Finance Flex
MS Finance Cohort
The cohort program is a one-year program in which students take all courses together as a cohort. It is designed for students from various backgrounds to gain knowledge to pursue opportunities in finance. Admission to the program occurs only in the Fall semester. The program is a lock-step program with no flexibility for choosing electives.MS Finance Cohort
The Financial Analyst concentration is a CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute University Recognized Program*.

The Energy Risk Management concentration is an Academic Partner with the Global Association of Risk Professionals(GARP).
The Real Estate program is a partner with the CCIM Institute (Certified Commercial Investment Member). This allows students a fast track route toward receiving the recognized CCIM designation.
MS Finance Program Highlights
Learn from world-renowned faculty who have published in all of the top finance journals (including The Journal of Finance, The Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies and others) and have won numerous best paper prizes.
The Finance Trading Lab gives you the opportunity to develop financial trading skills and access to many electronic business databases, including Thomson Reuters Eikon, Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, SDC Platinum, Morningstar Direct and Wharton Research Data Services. There are trading competitions held during the year for prizes, money and scholarships.
Participate in clubs and organizations, including the Financial Leadership Association, the Real Estate Club and the Energy Association – UT Dallas.
Invest money in the market through the student-run Global Investment Fund.
Develop your skills through contests and competitions, including the CFA® Institute Research Challenge, the TravisWolff Competition, the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Competition, as well as competitions through the Finance Trading Lab.
The Career Management Center offers workshops to develop resume and interviewing skills, as well as internship and job placement assistance.
