Risk Management
A Forum Presented by Asia-Pacific Center for Corporate Governance Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance of The University of Texas at Dallas.
Risk Management for Globally-Interconnected Enterprises is designed to focus the CEOs and senior managers of Hong Kong’s listed companies on preferred approaches for deciding whether to accept or reject added risk within the context of their enterprises’ risk capacity. Risk capacity measurement methodologies will be evaluated as will techniques for identifying other factors critical to the risk acceptance/rejection decision and its global economic impact.

Mr Walter John Smiechewicz Risk Management Consultant Mr Walter John Smiechewicz, a risk management consultant, was formerly Senior Managing Director – Enterprise Risk Assessment of Countrywide Financial Corporation. He assessed and consulted on risk issues for the Board of Directors but was not responsible for managing Countrywide’s risks. Mr Smiechewicz is a Certified Public Accountant (non-practicing), Certified Risk Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner (Associate), and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and Financial Executives International. |

Mr Vernon F. Moore Executive Director CITIC Pacific Limited Mr Vernon F. Moore is Executive Director of CITIC Pacific Limited. He is currently Chairman of the New Hong Kong Tunnel Company and the Western Harbour Tunnel Company. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Cathay Pacific Airways and CLP Holdings. Mr Moore joined the CITIC Group in Hong Kong in 1987 after 18 years in the banking and financial services industries. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants on whose Council he once served. |

Ms Angelina Kwan Director, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific Region Cantor Fitzgerald Ms Angelina Kwan is the Chief Operating Officer of Cantor Fitzgerald responsible for all operating aspects of its existing business and future ventures in the Asia Pacific region. She was previously the Head of Legal and Compliance of Cantor Fitzgerald/BGC Partners for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining the Group, Ms Kwan worked in the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission for almost eight years. Dr Kelvin Wong Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director COSCO Pacific Limited Dr Kelvin Wong is Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director of COSCO Pacific Limited. He is also the Chairman of its Corporate Governance Committee and a member of its Executive Committee. Dr Wong has more than 23 years of experience in management, banking and securities industries. Before joining COSCO in 1996, he was senior management in a number of listed companies in Hong Kong. Dr Wong is an Independent Non–Executive Director of many listed companies and a member of several professional bodies. |
