The Career Management Center offers tools and programs specifically for undergraduates, graduates and international students. These services were designed to help you build your network, enhance your skills and develop professionalism to land your dream job.

Career Coaching Services
Individual and group coaching services are available in the Career Management Center by appointment. Meet with a career coach for guidance throughout the job and internship search. Click here to request an appointment with a career coach.

CometCareers
CometCareers is the UT Dallas Career Center’s online recruiting system. Job postings, on-campus interview schedules and career events can be found using this system.

Resume and Cover-Letter Writing
Review the CMC resume and cover-letter writing guidelines. Then visit the CMC for assistance in revising and enhancing the content.

Schedule a mock interview to build confidence and to practice storytelling for your next interview.

Occupation Information

ChoicesPlanner

ChoicesPlanner is an occupational exploration program containing information on more than 655 occupations. Students can easily access information about occupations, conduct exploration searches and take online assessments. This version provides outlook and salary information for cities in Texas.

Students can compare salary and outlook information for Texas against other states. Follow the steps below to create a free Web portfolio account that you can use to save occupational information and searches. You are not required to create the portfolio to access the program; however, your searches will not be saved for future reference unless you create the portfolio.

ExecutiveLink
UT Dallas ExecutiveLink provides an opportunity for full-time MBA students to engage senior-level executives in their place of business for the purpose of enhancing the students’ curricular experience. These site visits are extremely informative and are great networking events.

Global Student Ambassadors
The Global Student Ambassador Program is a select group of graduate students dedicated to supporting, promoting and representing UT Dallas at local businesses. The program creates opportunities for students and local businesses to experience different cultures and exchange ideas. Students visit participating companies, speak with employees and learn firsthand how the businesses operate.

Leadership Council
The CMC Leadership Council is a select group of graduate and undergraduate students who volunteer at recruiting events and office programs. The program provides an opportunity for students within the Naveen Jindal School of Management to enhance their professional development and to gain exclusive access to campus recruiting events.

Industry Forums
The CMC hosts a number of industry forums in the spring and fall semesters. Executives from local businesses share their stories and career advice with students. Although we target specific majors at each forum, we encourage students to attend forums outside their majors. The list of forums is as follows: Accounting, Finance, Global/International Business, Healthcare, Marketing, MIS/ITM, Real Estate, and Supply Chain/Operations.

Mock Interview Day
The best way to prepare for an interview is to practice. Our Mock Interview Day gives students the opportunity to interview with recruiters and HR managers from local companies.

Internships are the best way for students to gain practical work experience and apply what they have learned in the classroom to business situations. From a career standpoint, an internship is an excellent resume builder and can often lead to a full-time job. Therefore, we highly encourage students to apply for internships. Celebrate your internship with the CMC by emailing us when you receive an offer. Be sure to include your name, major and concentration, and the company name.

  • U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents
  • To be eligible for an internship, you must:

    • Be registered and currently enrolled at UT Dallas with a declared major.
    • Be in good academic standing (2.0 cumulative GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 cumulative GPA for graduate students).
    • Have completed at least one semester at UT Dallas. In addition, undergraduate students must have at least 24 hours completed (including transfer hours), and graduate students must have at least 6 hours completed. (You may begin the internship process if you anticipate being eligible the following semester.)
    • Meet any additional requirements or conditions imposed by your academic department or school.

    PLEASE NOTE: Graduate students are not eligible for an internship in the same semester they are working as a Teaching Assistant or a Research Assistant.
    In order to view and accept internships on CometCareers, you must do the following:

    • Complete the Internship Orientation online: Enter your name and major, and complete the quiz. Be sure to fill out the Student Agreement Form and email to Tiffany Hanlon, internship coordinator.
    • You will receive an email from Ms. Hanlon notifying you that can view internships on CometCareers.

    Ms. Hanlon’s office is in the Student Services building. Please call (972) 883-2943 to make an appointment. She also has drop-in office hours at the following times:

    • Tuesdays in the JSOM Undergraduate Lounge from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Thursdays in the Career Management Center from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • International Students
