Two JSOM Alumni Win CFO of the Year Awards

Two Naveen Jindal School of Management alumni have been named winners of 2015 Dallas Business Journal CFO of the Year Awards.

Laura Keene, BS 1985, chief financial officer at Moroch Holdings, Inc.; won in the Small Private Companies category; and Bradley Almond, MA 1995, CFO and senior vice president of corporate services at Vertex Business Services; won in the Software Companies category.

A marketing and advertising company, Moroch is Dallas-based and has been in business since 1981. A story on the Moroch website by Monica Esposito said that “for the past 27 years, our CFO Laura Keene has made an incredibly significant impact on the growth and success of our family of companies.”

Based in Richardson, Vertex Business Services delivers technology and services to electric, gas and water utilities. Almond is responsible for “most of the company’s administrative functions,” according to the Vertex website, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, facilities, and corporate human resources. Additionally, he serves as a director of VertexOne India.

The yearly DBJ awards honor the top company financial leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Winners were announced in 11 categories at a Dallas luncheon Oct. 26. Five of the 29 finalists this year earned a degree at JSOM.

According to DBJ, a panel of independent judges, including past recipients and members of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, the Dallas CPA Society and the Dallas chapter of Financial Executives International, selected the nominees this year.
