COO, Vidas Sanas
It was a delight to work with the team from UT Dallas on our project. They were very professional, communicated in a very timely manner and took the initiative needed to accomplish the goals even on the fast moving schedule of a tech startup like Vidas Sanas. We look forward to working with UT Dallas for other projects knowing the caliber of their students and their willingness to assist businesses in the community. Thank you!
Founder and Managing Director, Cause Studio, A startup nonprofit incubator serving North Texas!
Any small business who has not tapped into the resources available through ProConnect has left an invaluable resource on the table. The quality of services provided by the students is equivalent, and in some cases greater than, the support received from established organizations and paid consultants.
Owner, SmoothApps in Plano
I am amazed at the team’s tremendous communication skills, very high emotional intelligence, great coordination and organization skills. I liked the way the students formulated and expressed their thoughts.
President, Tech Dogs
This project with the students was truly a fun and uplifting experience. It was so rewarding in more ways than just receiving the final project – it was like a proud parent seeing your own kids grow up and enter the real world for the first time. We are all really proud of the team!
The partnership with the program is an opportunity to share, exchange and learn a new way of thinking, a way to give back to our educational institution such as UTD. It is a win-win project for all. Thank you!
Owner, S&J Car Care
I was very pleased with the forecasting and projected budget they put together. The whole team did an excellent job and went above and beyond to get the job done. Job well done.

I would really put the team in the “outstanding” category overall. We hope that we will be able to work with UTD on different projects in the future.
Group Sales Manager, Intuit
As a business leader, I enjoyed having bright and talented students look at age old business problems with a new creative perspective.
The ProConnect program exceeded our expectations and delivered real value to our business. We presented the students with a business challenge that we wanted to solve but hadn’t had the time or resources to focus on the problem. The team of students met the challenge head-on, with very little required hand-holding, and delivered a model to us that URComped will use to make decisions in our business.
President, Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute
What I liked about the process was how I was able to see the students transform right before our eyes. Their confidence, nonprofit knowledge and communication skills were enhanced within such a short period of time. Also, to bring the cultures together under one organization gave each side a different perspective of values and work ethics. The team was dedicated and did an excellent job. They exceeded my expectations. Great Job!!
President, By The Grace of Tea
Receiving a spreadsheet with all the costs, overhead and profit margin built in was of great value to me. I loved getting to know the team personally and learning about the Chinese culture. These are amazing young people!.
Dallas Manager, Photo Booth Dallas
I encourage anyone to get involved in the Pro Connect project. It’s a short term project with definite long term benefits. The students are eager to provide the best product they can and they lack nothing, in ability and knowledge. As a small business owner we have experience but our accounting knowledge and ability could be improved. It was perfect partnership. We got to see the students confidence grow and learned a tremendous amount about our business. The knowledge gained has already helped to shape our decisions for the future.
President and Owner, ACU Construction
The UT Dallas Graduate Accounting Interns very quickly were able to develop a functional understanding of the highway construction industry. They were then able to implement effective and useful QuickBooks processes.

Tianjin, China – Class of 2018
Project completion is most challenging but also the most fun part of the Accounting Business Communications course. With tutoring from a helpful professor and professionals, you will gain knowledge of how real business works. This course not only equips you with writing and verbal communication skills but also raises your confidence level and emotional intelligence.
Xi’an Shaanxi, China – Summer 2017
It was a great pleasure to work on a Professional Accounting Communications project. After connecting with a real- world business client, I understand how difficult it is to run a small business without a mature accounting system in place. I enjoyed working with my teammates to solve the challenges of our client’s business plan. I really appreciate Professor Goodrich giving me the chance to learn the skills and knowledge that I will need in the workplace.
Bangkok, Thailand – May 2017
My team and I had a great opportunity to cooperate with our client to analyse the company’s key processes and recommend the best practices that improved its profit margin. This project is one of the most memorable accomplishments I did at UTD. I acquired valuable real-world experience by implementing my accounting knowledge in the project. This project was very challenging but I had so much fun. I really appreciate the Accounting Communications class and Professor Goodrich for this incredible experience.

Rockwall, Texas – Class of 2017
The ProConnect consulting engagement provided a valuable hands-on experience that was challenging, relevant, and rewarding. This project provided a unique opportunity to use textbook management and communication theory and apply it to real world situations. The ProConnect project allowed our diverse group of students to work cohesively in order to construct a comprehensive business plan for an emerging financial services organization. Most importantly, I was able to effectively develop my professional communication, project management, networking, and leadership abilities. I highly recommend the Accounting Communications course to anyone who is preparing to enter the workforce.
Richardson, TX – Class of 2017
This project was my favorite part of the course. The people I worked with, the type of work we did, and the value we added to a business made this assignment exciting and fun. Completing real life work for an assignment provided me the opportunity to acquire experience in accounting areas of my interest. I gained knowledge and skills that will benefit me in my future career.
Beijing, China – Class of 2017
The work that I did with ProConnect in the Professional Accounting Communications course really helped me to develop my communication skills. This experience of working on a team with a client, completing work, and having regular communications with our client has been invaluable for me in my interviewing for internships. Our project was able to directly impact the Dallas Independent School District’s Destination 2020 Initiative to improve teaching effectiveness. Our team did this through our research of focus groups and tips for internal audit evaluation of efficiency and effectiveness. Thank you UTD for offering me this opportunity to develop both my professional accounting technical and soft skills.
Grand Prairie, Texas – December 2016
The experience gained through UTD’s ProConnect program is invaluable. The program provides students with the opportunity to develop their professional skills and network with real clients. This experience is especially valuable for students who are preparing to apply for internships or enter the workforce.
Plano, TX – Class of 2016
One of my favorite things about Professor Goodrich’s classes is the invaluable feedback. Professor Goodrich has a knack for detecting areas where your professional communication could use improvement, and coaching you through said areas seamlessly and often in real-time. She wants you to succeed. This class has also added value to my resume. It is not every day you get to prepare the numbers for a real business that is auditioning for Shark Tank! Also, I have never had more supportive Teaching Assistants, namely Justin Hogue and Mayuresh Naik, as long as I have attended UTD. Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank Lucretia for identifying Monster Yogurt for this class and making this experience possible. The conclusion of this semester is bittersweet. I learned a great deal and had fun doing it!
Los Angeles, CA – Class of 2016
Taking Accounting Communications was one of the best decisions I ever made. Not only was the course worth every cent I paid for, it also came with something extremely challenging: working with a client. I learned how to work in a corporate environment, how to manage and how to inspire a team of people. Most importantly, I learned how to make the client happy and satisfied. It was grueling, challenging and extremely time consuming (believe me when I say that!). Even then, despite all of that, my team and I felt it was worth every second. Best of all, I have made friends that will last forever: my teammates, people at the client company, Professor Goodrich, T.A. Justin, and Ms. Ensminger. They have inspired me to go above and beyond and taught me that nothing is ever impossible.

Heifei, China – Class of 2015
Learning how to communicate professionally, both in writing and verbally, with team members and a business client has been an invaluable experience for me. Confidence in my knowledge and ability greatly increased when we produced a 51 page formal business plan within the Summer semester. Nothing is impossible in the Accounting Communications class taught by an inspiring and supportive professor who challenges you to succeed.
Brea, CA – Class of 2015
The consulting engagement opportunity provided in the Accounting Communications course was valuable on academic, professional, and personal levels. The engagement facilitated a professional-level business project that was far beyond the type of experience normally encountered in an academic program.
Zhe (George) Liu
Zhengzhou, China – Class of 2015
During Summer 2015, I was a member of a team who completed a Payroll Cost Analysis and an Innovation Project for Renee Dutia, owner of Regali, Inc. The Accounting Business Communication class provided me with an opportunity to apply textbook theory to a real-world business situation. I also now understand how important professional written and verbal communications skills are to effectively work with colleagues and also to persuade and solicit support from a company and its strategic partners. I would highly recommend this class to all students who anticipate entering the corporate workforce.
