International Exchange Programs

Naveen Jindal School of Management has a variety of exchange programs that allow JSOM students an opportunity to develop their educational and personal goals while studying abroad. Programs identified as “Exchange” mean that you study abroad at University “A,” while a student from this same institution comes to study at UT Dallas. This exchange normally allows you to pay a similar amount as if you were completing a semester at UT Dallas in terms of tuition, fees, books, and in many cases, room and board.

Naveen Jindal School of Management has exchange agreements with some of the best schools in the world and when you go overseas, taking classes at these premier institutions will enable you to learn different perspectives from different cultures. Participating in an exchange program will allow you to enhance your foreign language and intercultural skills, as well as establish friendships with local students and other exchange students from around the world.

UT Dallas exchange programs are subject to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) guidelines.

AUSTRIA

WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business)

WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business is the largest University focusing on business and economics in Europe and, in terms of student body, one of the largest universities in Austria. It has been ranked as one of the best business schools in Europe. Until 2008, its official name in English was “Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration”. In 2009 Vienna University of Economics and Business was ranked as one of the best business schools in the German speaking countries according to Handelsblatt and in 2011 it was ranked 21st in the list of the 392 worldwide leading higher education institutions by Mines ParisTech. The study obtained the higher education career of the CEOs of the world’s leading 500 companies. In 2011 the university’s master program in management was ranked 18th in Europe. Furthermore it was ranked 28th in European Business Schools in the “European Business School Ranking 2011″ by Financial Times. The Financial Times has ranked WU Wien as one of the top 50 European Business Schools (#16 in 2009 for the master program International Business Administration). The university is part of the respected consortium of Europe’s leading schools and corporate partners – Community of European Management Schools (CEMS). WU Wien has achieved accreditation from the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA) and Brussels-based EQUIS.

University of Wollongong

The University of Wollongong is a leading Australian university with an international reputation for academic excellence. UOW has been placed in the top 2% of universities in the world by its performance in both the 2009 Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World universities and The Times Higher Education – QS World University Rankings 2009. It is consistently ranked among the top Australian universities for the quality of its teaching, research, graduate employment rates and student experience. UOW provides an inspiring study environment – on the main Wollongong campus, or at its downtown Sydney Business School. The City of Wollongong is approximately 80 kilometers from downtown Sydney, and is set in a magnificent coastal environment. CHINA

Harbin Institute of Technology

Harbin Institute of Technology is a research university in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China. Harbin Institute of Technology consists of three campuses: the main campus in Harbin, HIT in Weihai and HIT Shenzhen Graduate School. Harbin Institute of Technology is widely recognized as one of the top universities in China. As a famous university in China, HIT is known for its selectivity in several decades. Usually, only the students having very high scores in the National Higher Education Entrance Examination can be admitted into the undergraduate programs. Admission into the graduate school is also very competitive. HIT operates on a year round schedule that includes a fall and spring semester. Winter and summer holidays are placed between semesters. In all holidays, the dormitories and part of the dining halls remain open to students. HIT has a very strict standard in education. The motto, “Being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students”, which is quite different from the motto of other universities, reflects the tradition of HIT. Both theories and applications are emphasized. Instructors are required to have very good preparation for lectures.

GERMANY

EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht

The EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel, Germany, was founded in 1971. The university’s activities focus on 3 core areas: undergraduate, postgraduate programs and executive education. The EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht has the right to award doctorate and habilitations. EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht emerged in summer 2010 from European Business School International University, Schloss Reichartshausen and the EBS Law School in addition to the EBS Business School was founded as a second faculty, is the first Business University in Germany. Besides attending courses in business, management and economics, all students take a course in philosophy that delivers fundamental knowledge in the philosophy of science and ethics. Furthermore, the EBS Coaching program is offered to all students and doctoral candidates. Each year, the EBS Symposium invites leading figures from the business world, students and journalists to the Rheingau. The University also offers professional continuing education programs for specialists and managers. EBS is a member of the academic section of the UN Global Compact, a global initiative to promote corporate citizenship.

Philipps-Universitat Marburg

The Philipps University, located in the picturesque city of Marburg, in central Germany about an hour north of Frankfurt, offers a complete range of scholarly disciplines (including the humanities and the natural and social sciences; schools of law, management, medicine, and theology; but no engineering programs). In line with the developing integration of European universities through the Bologna agreements, Marburg has introduced bachelor and master degrees into its regular curriculum and facilitated transfer of course credits. At the same time, the university has developed special programs (taught in English and German) for international students, who make up about 11% of the 22,000 students in this academically attractive environment. UTD students have three different opportunities to take advantage of Marburg’s impressive offerings.

Dongguk University

Dongguk University provides a world-class education that bridges East and West on many levels. Poznan University of Economics

Established in 1926, the Poznan University of Economics is one of the leading business schools in Poland. It is a state University currently attended by over 15.000 students. The PUE offers programs at three academic levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD) as well professional post graduate studies and MBA courses. The University’s main site is located in the Center of Poznan, a 15-minute walk away from the Old Town. The PUE has five faculties – the Faculty of Commodity Science, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, the Faculty of International Economy and the Faculty of Management. Education at the PUE is closely linked with research. The University has relations with numerous companies and it is a forum for exchange of views, networking and discussion. Its departments carry out specialized projects, expert analyses and offer consulting services for private and public institutions.

Ozyegin University

Istanbul Kultur University

Istanbul Kültür University is a private university providing a public service, established in 1997 by the Kültür Educational Foundation as the ultimate accomplishment of a deep-rooted 70-year tradition. IKU is an urban university acknowledged by YÖK (The Council of Higher Education in Turkey) and supported financially by the state of the Turkish Republic. IKU aims to maintain international academic relations of high standards, and is based on the tradition of resounding academic success and quality. As the result of mutual collaboration agreements with the universities of the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Australia, Latin America, and Asia, the students and faculty of Istanbul Kültür University are able to follow every development in scientific, cultural and educational fields, and make maximum use of these improvements. Within the scope of these agreements, students of Istanbul Kültür University can study at a university abroad for an academic year as an exchange student. In the 2 Institutes, 7 Faculties and 3 Vocational Schools of Istanbul Kültür University, students from more than 42 different countries are studying.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A student must have a minimum 3.0 from UT Dallas.
  • Students with under 60 semester credit hours must have completed 30 UTD semester credit hours.
  • Students with over 60 semester credit hours must have completed 15 UTD semester credit hours.
  • Students who are within the 24/30 rule who plan to graduate must obtain a 24/30 waiver to be eligible for study abroad/exchange programs.
  • Graduate students must have a completed 9 UTD semester credit hours for study abroad/exchange programs.
  • Study abroad/exchange programs are limited to two (2) semesters.
  • Meet with Associate Dean for course pre-approval.

General Nomination and Acceptance Process

  • Complete the UT Dallas exchange program application and submit it to the Office of International Education (OIE) along with an official UT Dallas transcript at least six (6) months prior to the semester you would like to do exchange.
  • Students are required to enroll full-time at the host institution. A minimum of 9 semester credit hours for graduate students & a minimum of 12 semester credit hours for undergraduate students.
  • OIE reviews exchange program applications and will either approve or deny exchange program application.
  • If exchange program application is approved, OIE will “nominate” student to the host institution. Host institutions may have different “nominating” dates and timelines.
  • Host institution reviews UT Dallas’ nomination and will either approve or deny exchange program application.
  • If the host institution approves the nomination, your information will be forwarded to the host institution’s admissions office by the host institution nomination committee and you will be notified to officially apply to host institution. Some host institutions require online application others require hard copy applications mailed to them through UT Dallas’ Office of International Education.
  • Host institution’s admissions office can approve or deny you admission.
  • If host institution’s admission office accepts your admission application, then you will become a UT Dallas exchange student.
